Al llegar nuevamente a México luego de haberse graduado en el extranjero, Santiago descubre que su medio-hermano, Diego, se ha suicidado, debido al dolor que le causo el engaño y la traición de Alma una mujer de quien se enamoro locamente. Santiago, lleno de rabia y dolor, y jurando vengar la muerte de su hermano, sale en busca de esa mujer que le causó tanto daño a su hermano, para vengarse de ella. No sabe su nombre, solo que comienza con "A" ni como se ve, solo que es muy bella. De esta forma Santiago llega a la casa de Teodoro y Luisa Robles Conde, grandes empresarios de la industria hotelera, donde conoce a dos sobrinas de esta pareja, Alma y Andrea. Santiago queda inmediatamente impresionado con la belleza y simpatía de Andrea, él supone que es ella la mujer que arrastro a su hermano a la muerte y no Alma, por su simplicidad y carácter, en apariencia, discreto. Desde ese mismo momento Santiago comienza a planificar su venganza contra la mujer a quien él considera culpable de la muerte de Diego. Se propone conquistar a Andrea, desconociendo que en realidad es Alma, el foco de su venganza, porque fue ella quien logró manipular a tal punto a Diego que lo llevo al suicidio. Equivocadamente Santiago enfila sus armas de conquista hacia Andrea, la enamora y se la lleva a vivir en una casa alejados de la ciudad. Allí comienza el maltrato emocional de Santiago con Andrea, tratándola con frialdad e indiferencia. Hasta que un día Andrea decide enfrentar a Santiago y saber porque la trata de esa manera, y es cuando Santiago se abre y le dice todo lo que cree de ella. Andrea no puede creer toda esa pesadilla que injustificadamente este hombre le ha hecho vivir por su sed de venganza, y se va furiosa jurándose a sí misma nunca perdonarlo. Cuando Santiago se convence de que se ha equivocado con Andrea, se desespera y trata de buscarla, pero ya es demasiado tarde. Comienza en su vida una gran batalla por lograr el perdón de Andrea y poder recuperar su amor. Andrea por su parte también sufre porque, aunque esta muy lastimada, no puede evitar el amor que siente por él. Las vidas de Andrea y Santiago llegan a estar unidas, y a la vez desunidas, por un engaño, solo será el amor el único poder capaz de romper la barrera de odio que los separa. Consumed by pain and anger, Santiago swears to avenge the death of his brother by finding the women responsible for the tragedy. He only knows that this woman’s name starts with “A” and that she is very beautiful. While on his search, Santiago reaches the home of Teodoro and Luisa Robles Conde, a renowned hotel entrepreneur, and his wife Luisa. There, he meets the couple’s striking nieces, Alma and Andrea, and he is immediately impressed with the beauty and charm of the latter. Santiago assumes that this woman, Andrea, is the one who caused his brother’s death since Alma appears to be very simple and discreet. From that moment on, Santiago begins to plan his revenge against the woman he believes is responsible for Diego committing suicide. His plan begins to unfold as he conquers Andrea’s heart and takes her to live with him in a house distant from the city. There, he starts mistreating her emotionally, acting cold and indifferent towards her. Andrea suffers because she thinks Santiago does not love her, but what she doesn’t know is that Santiago lives constantly tormented because he has begun truly falling in love with her. Although he is angry with her for what he believes she did to his brother, eventually Santiago can’t help but to fall completely in love with Andrea. One day, Andrea finally decides to confront Santiago and ask him directly why he mistreats her. Santiago then reveals what he has been up to and what he thinks of Andrea. Andrea cannot believe that she suffered unjustly all that time and she leaves Santiago, promising herself that she will never forgive him. Convinced by Andrea’s innocence, Santiago’s new quest to regain Andrea’s love begins. Although Andrea feels incredibly hurt and promised herself not to forgive him, she can’t ignore the great love she feels for Santiago. The lives of these two characters are brought together, and then apart, by the lies of another person and love will be the only force capable of breaking down the barriers that keep them apart. Is it possible to truly love the person we despised the most?
